Student Advocacy
Throughout the year, Student Council requests and receives feedback from students regarding their experiences at HFC. Representatives work with various campus departments to ensure the students' concerns are addressed.
Student Representation
Student Council Representatives are asked to serve on a variety of College committees to provide input on issues that affect students. Most recently, Student Council members have sat on Shared Leadership Committees and Facilities Master Planning Committee working to improve the student experience.
Leadership Development
The Student Council of HFC strongly supports the development of student leaders. We believe that those students who are motivated to represent HFC at local, state, or national conferences deserve funding to help defer the costs of traveling. Each academic year, the Student Council of HFC awards four (4) Leadership Travel and Representation grants of up to $250 each to support student engagement in leadership activities.
For additional information on Leadership Travel and Representation Grants, contact Ms. Victoria Shepherd, Staff Advisor to Student Council at vashepherd@hfcc.edu or 313-845-9609.
